Andrew Thompson – Executive Director

My name is Andrew Thompson, and I am the Executive Director at Charter Senior Living in Charlotte. I hale from central Florida but have lived in the Midwest but now call North Carolina home. I have 4 kids and a beautiful wife to whom I have been married for 21 years. I have worked in the medical field for over 20 years with the majority being in home healthcare. I have had the pleasure of working in senior living as executive director for the past few years. I am honored and excited to see what the future holds for Charter.

Kay Hobbs – Health and Wellness Director

Hello! I am Khalilah Hobbs, I go by Kay. I am the Health and Wellness Director at the Charter Senior Living. I grew up in Bethlehem, PA and Lagrange NC, but I currently call Fort Mill, SC home. My favorite things to do include, cooking, decorating, and spending time with my close family and friends. I graduated 12 years ago with a License in nursing with a background in long term care/skilled nursing, travel nurse, and many years of nurse management. I genuinely enjoy working with our senior community. With my clinical and managerial background mixed with compassion, I hope to ensure you and your love one a extraordinary experience.

April Hampton – Memory Care Director

My name is April Hampton, Charter Senior Living’s new Memory Care Director, and I have dedicated over 20 years to healthcare. With a diverse nursing background spanning community health, psych nursing, home care, long term care, staff education, and dementia care, I bring extensive experience to my role. My personal experiences with dementia, caring for my mother and uncle, fuel my passion for memory care. In my position, I ensure residents’ healthcare needs are met, support and educate staff, and maintain a professional yet friendly atmosphere. My goal is to create a high-quality, reliable, and caring environment for all residents at Charter of Charlotte.

Scott Simka – Director of Dining Services

I am a classically trained career-Executive Chef with experience serving in Hotels, Restaurants, Banquets & Catering and Healthcare. I’ve served as Executive Chef in 2 separate South Florida Hospitals, one rated at 500 beds for more than 5 years. The past 20+ years have been devoted solely to serving Seniors in multiple levels of care including acute, independent, assisted living and memory care. It’s my passion to serve seniors and their families, making friendships and providing families with lasting memories. I love cooking and baking, even doing those activities when I’m not working.

Ella Gibson – Life Enrichment Director

Hello! I grew up in San Francisco, California before making my way to Florida to pursue a bachelor’s degree from the Florida Institute of Technology. Most of my early career was spent in education and psychology which equipped me with the perfect tools to curate individualized activities for our residents. In my free time I enjoy watching (and playing) sports as well as anything outdoors. I hope to bring my outgoing personality and energy to the Charter environment!

Whitney Byrd – Director of Sales & Marketing

With over 18 years of experience in healthcare, I bring a deep passion for senior care and a heartfelt commitment to supporting families through every stage of the transition. I began my career as a CNA, specializing in high acuity patients and their successful return to the community, supporting efforts to reduce rehospitalizations and collaborating with post-acute partners to ensure the best transition and care.

My journey with Charter Senior Living began as a healthcare liaison, guiding families through the referral process. The decision to join Charter was easy, having witnessed firsthand the exceptional care and support the Charlotte team provides. I am honored to be part of a team that shares my compassion, values, and dedication to seniors.

For me, work is more than a career — it’s a calling and lifelong passion. My love for seniors runs deep, inspired by childhood afternoons spent with my papa, visiting his siblings, listening to their stories over ice cream, and soaking up their wisdom. Today, I find the greatest joy in learning about the lives, families, and histories of the people I serve.

A Charlotte native, I am the proud mom to Dillon and Blair and blessed to be surrounded by my close-knit family. My free time is spent cheering on my kids at high school games, gymnastics meets and supporting their many passions. I am committed to my faith, love a good cup of coffee, and am an enthusiastic fan of all things Christmas.

Terri Robinson – Executive Director

With over 23 years of leadership experience in Senior Living, I have had the privilege of managing all levels of care, including Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, and Independent Living. My journey in this field began early in life and has been fueled by a deep, lifelong passion for serving seniors.

That passion was sparked in elementary school, when I accompanied my mother, then a Business Office Manager at a skilled nursing facility, to work. I spent time engaging with residents, listening to their stories, and even volunteering as the Christmas elf during the holidays. In high school, I served as secretary of the Health Careers Club, where we “adopted” residents without families during the holiday season, an experience that left a lasting impression on me. In college, I worked in a hospital and completed an internship on a swing bed unit, where it became clear to me that Senior Living was the path I wanted to pursue.

Since then, I’ve been dedicated to creating meaningful, solution-focused care environments for residents and their families. What drives me most is the opportunity to walk alongside families as they navigate the complexities of aging, especially when memory care is involved. I understand the emotional weight adult children carry as they strive to honor their parents while balancing the needs of their own families. I take great pride in helping them find clarity, comfort, and confidence in the decisions they make.

Senior Living is not just my profession, it is my calling. Supporting residents and their families through life’s transitions is both an honor and a responsibility I hold close to heart.

Shakira Greene-Wright – Memory Care Director

My name is Shakira Greene-Wright. I am the Memory Care Director at Charter Senior Living of Charlotte. I have dedicated over 20 years to my healthcare career. I started as a Resident Assistant and eventually became a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). Once working as a CNA, I then obtained my Medication Technician license. I then continued my education and received my supervisor certificate to become the Nursing Coordinator. This led me to supervise all staff in the community. I  became a Scheduler/Nursing Coordinator for over 10 years. After this, I became the Memory Care Director, which I can say I was a little apprehensive about the position. Now, I would change nothing about my role. I strive to make sure the residents in Memory Care have the best quality of life they can have.

Sado Potato – Life Enrichment Dog

Sado (pronounced Say-Doe) Potato was adopted from the Humane Society of Charlotte in September of 2024. Sado is a mixed breed, and we would love to hear your guesses as to what he may be! He often gets asked about his name, which comes from a song by the band Mt. Joy. He comes to the community twice weekly, and loves to attend some fun bonus days and events. Although he loves to run around and play, Sado’s absolute favorite thing to do is bring smiles to the residents here at Charter Senior Living of Charlotte. He visits rooms, goes on walks with the residents and gets them out to the courtyard for fresh air. He loves showing off all of his tricks, especially when the residents have his favorite snack: dried sweet potatoes!
