Type of Care Provided – Daily Living Activities, Not a Medical Care Model
Assisted Living communities provide assistance with activities of daily living such as grooming, dressing, dining and medication management. They do not provide a medical care model such as lifts or full nonambulatory needs, or advanced feeding.
Type of Home – Apartment, Not a Room
Assisted Living provides a private apartment home with private baths and kitchens. The medical care model of a long-term care community is usually a single room, sometimes with a roommate or shared bathroom.
Lifestyle
Assisted Living residents are more independent and can come and go as they please from their homes. Many residents can still get around, cook, and take care of pets. These residents also expect a very active calendar of events that stimulate the mind, body and spirit. The right senior living choice can make all the difference.
